Complicity: Building Interactive Narrative

After the BioWare seminar, we got a number of requests to do something similar back home. I trailed the idea on Twitter and got a promising response. So, here: http://complicity.eventbrite.com/ - a Failbetter seminar on narrative engineering, Wednesday 24th August 2011.

But the really exciting news is that Emily Short, arguably the doyenne of traditional interactive fiction and a significant authority in the field, has agreed to do the seminar as a double-header with me. It's going to be a lot of fun.

The venue is our incubation host, the extremely fabulous Ravensbourne. It's a sort of steam-cleaned minimalist futurist technoparadise. It's by the North Greenwich / O2 Tube exit in London. It's here: http://www.rave.ac.uk/about/maps-and-directions/large-map/

If you're interested, come along. If the ticket price worries you, get your work to spring for it! That link again: http://complicity.eventbrite.com/

I can't attend this seminar in person. Will it be recorded? (It sounds interesting enough that I'd be willing to pay for a recording.)

Hi Dan - I think Em answered this on her blog, but sadly I don't think so. It would either compromise the quality of the session as we peer into the camera, or provide you with something poor value. Sorry! You never know, if it works out, we might do a repeat event on the other side of the Atlantic some day.

Sadly, teaching that day- any chance of a stream?

Could there be at least a transcription of what you say? It's not the same as actually being there, but it's better than nothing.

Little The - we'd need to pay for a transcription service, and I'm afraid I can't see any way to sell that to cover time and costs.

Let's go wider, then - will there be any way for those of us who can't make the session, or indeed any future session, to glean the insights you and Emily will provide?
