Summer in Fallen London

The Nemesis Ambition is now up to date with the rest of the game, taking you through the Chambers of the Heart to the Cage-Garden where the bees do their work and a confrontation in the tomb-colony of Venderbight. You may have noticed your companions have got friskier, and there are a couple of menacingly playful devils about the place.

Other things are coming on the first Friday [no longer Tuesday] of August:

  • the opening acts of the Wars of Illusion
  • the diabolical freethinkers of Benthic College
  • the bloated prayermongers of Summerset
  • the Empress' Court. Wit or beauty?
  • the difficulties of caging a fungus-colony

(and the Mirror-Marches? surely that's superstition.)

The latest content has been utterly brilliant.
Now what's going on with that blighted Vake?

What does this mean, btw? Specific storylets depending on your currently equipped companion?

STOP THE WAR ON ILLUSION! NO BLOOD FOR DREAMS! HANDS OFF PARABOLA!

By which I mean "I am looking forward to the Wars of Illusion very much".

They don't have to be equipped. I had my Grubby Urchin bothering people with a trumpet, and feuds between him and my Malevolent Monkey. (Then I traded the Urchin in for an Alluring Accomplice, who keeps to herself more)

I'm wondering whether these new stories are going to be told through Opportunity cards, or whether the level cap will be raised.

I am a person of colour, so I don't have the luxury of not thinking about such things as I move through the world, even when I'm "just" playing a game.  So I'm glad to see that you're thinking about it, too.  People of colour have lived in London for centuries, not all of them in menial positions. Some of those histories are documented and have been written about, so it doesn't take a lot of searching to begin to find the facts. Inserting more characters of colour into your game need not feel like labouring a point. On the other hand, it's a point that could stand more labour.
