Morning all. It's a big day, so let's get right into the juicy stuff. 

  • Mahogany Hall, a grand sequence of new adventures for the very shadowy and persuasive, is open for business. The entry storylet is in your Lodgings, under "Open a way to other parts of the city". Mahogany Hall is the biggest content release we've ever done: more than 60 storylets featuring a rogues' gallery of mesmerists and charlatans, singing princesses and sinister cult leaders. Educate a Clay Man, learn the secret arts of spiritualism, perform your own stunning feat of illusion and escapology, delve deeper into the mystery of the Iron Box, or just kick back and enjoy the theatrical atmosphere. We're very proud of Mahogany Hall; we hope you'll enjoy it too.  
  • The Exceptional Friends subscription service is now live. More details and a rousing discussion on the subject can be found here, but a brief recap follows.
  • The action cap for free players is now 40 per day, with an extra 10 for an echo to your social network.
  • Subscribers to the Exceptional Friends scheme can benefit from an extra candle and 80 action per day, with an extra 20 actions available for an echo to your social network, plus no more ads at the bottom of the screen.
  • Anyone who has ever bought any Fate, ever, since the first day of beta to ten AM this morning, gets a week of Exceptional Friend membership free, as a thank you for supporting the game.
  • If you've already got a second candle, you're an Exceptional Friend right now, and your candle has been extended for a week too. 
  • All menace thresholds have been raised to eight, to bring them into line with nightmares. 
  • Those of you with a dead rat in your pocket and a sentimental bent may find you have the opportunity to give the poor beastie a decent burial.  
  • Finally, a number of new items are available in the Bazaar: new suits and gowns for newcomers, corsets, monocles, a poisoned umbrella and a Bengal Tigress. 
  • Just to reiterate: YOU CAN BUY A TIGER AT THE BAZAAR.

I love it all very much, or at least what I can see of it. It has depth, and it also has bottom. But the depth is bottomless. And the bottom has breadth. Or something like that.

I am already loving the content, and I now own a tiger!

Just a question: all this went live with 80 actions for me several hours earlier than my normal daily reset time. Does this mean that you've changed the reset times, or was it only for today?

Okay, wait, all may not be forgiven. I chose the Persuasive option, and the Shadowy promptly disappeared. Do I get to re-choose later? If so, when and how? What is the point of not letting me go back and forth between qualities? And why didn't you make it clear that it was an exclusive choice beforehand?

Hooray, Dangerous clothing! Hopefully that'll make Dangerous a bit more balanced, since the total equipment bonus was a few points lower than the others, I believe. Kind of disappointed there's still no Watchful footwear, though. Will you be including some soon?

(On that note, will there every be Dangerous/Persuasive/Shadowy equivalents of the Overgoat? It's obviously rather unbalanced right now)

@Little The We do have some deliberate, as well as some accidental, asymmetries. In particular he Overgoat is a law unto itself.

I'm excited about the new content etc, but some confusion here, and as I write this I realize I'm putting all my pent up questions out at once:
1) For those of us banned from the Court, what about the Crossing the Unterzee option? Boat still late.
2) My Exceptional Friend notice says 6 days left. I thought we got a week with previous Fate purchase? I'm writing from Across the Pond in case that affects the answer. (And now that there is new content I'm likely to renew.)
3) What about the various Ambition content boundaries?
4) The items the Duchess wants. Around the New Year I understood how to get them with Fate. But I didn't collect them all and the Duchess still wants these items and I don't know how to satisfy her.
5) What about those of us Banished from the University?

Thanks for all the new Bazaar items, thought the Overgoat is still too expensive ;) . And now off to play in Mahogany Hall!

Hi Julian. Many questions! Fortunately we have many answers.
1. Have patience Smile Many strange lands wait across the Unterzee, and all shall be revealed in time.
2. It's seven days from the moment of the server reset, so what you've actually got is six days and a bushel of hours.
3. The ambitions are currently bumping against the level caps. They will continue once we have raised them. you're not the only one who's keen to see more - I'm currently working on the next episode of Light Fingers, and I can't wait for people to discover the secrets of The Orphanage. It's nasty stuff.
4. Those items were exclusively available from Mr Sacks. However, they may in future be found elsewhere.
5. Ah, well, the next episode for Watchful types is... no, hang on, sorry. Spoilers.

Can someone send me a tigress to the far bank?

On the other hand, I'm starting to get a little worried about my character... his wounds are raising to +40 and I want to know if he will die "forever" if his wounds reaches certain number cap.

For some reason, I haven't been able to change equipped items since the update.  I haven't altered any browser settings since the last time I tried changing equipment, and I've tried this in Firefox and Safari both.  Is the problem on my end, or another result of the update?

I'm currently working with bats, having been redirected to the Flit from Mahogany Hall.  I was given a choice to approach bats or cats, and went for the bats due to the note I got.

Have I just lost the chance to work with cats at all?

Similarly-- I was working with cats, then took the option to play both sides, started in working with bats... and then both cats AND bats disappeared.  Was it something I said?
